I don’t know about you, but when I first started work, productivity was generally “measured” by the time you arrived at the office and the time you left.
These days it seems our productivity is often “measured” by the number of emails we send, who we send them to and when they are sent!
Technology has blurred the line between people and productivity with staff not necessarily knowing what is expected of them when.
One missed opportunity to increase productivity is considering Time.
Not everyone's time is equal.
Employee costs vary depending on salary and expertise.
Many organisation have high level staff doing tasks that could easily be done by lower salaried ones releasing them to focus on more strategic activities or to increase billable hours.
Additionally there are often two staff members who do the same task but one takes five minutes, the other fifteen. That's 10 minutes lost on one task alone.
Across the course of a week that's almost 1 hr.
Across the year it is over 40hrs or the equivalent of having a staff member work ONE EXTRA WEEK per year.
My question is, what tasks or process are you wasting time and in turn $$ on?
